Hi, I'm so glad you found me!
My name is Lori Whisenant and I'm excited that you took the time to learn more about me. I am a self-taught artist and have been making art in my free time as long as I can remember. Now I spend every day either painting or studying art. Most of my work consists of acrylic paint with watercolor pencils and crayons. Certificate of Authenticity
All of my original artwork come with a Certificate of Authenticity, dated, and hand signed. The Certificate includes the title of the artwork, a brief description, dimensions, medium, year finished, and a color image of the work. This guarantees the authenticity of the artwork as a genuine original by Lori Whisenant.
Inspiration and Intrigue
I'm inspired by nature, movement, relationships, and dreams...and intrigued by things that appear out of place and unusual, the coincidental, and the serendipitous. Most of my pieces are inspired by an experience I've had either in the waking world or in my dreams.
Techniques
My "go to" medium is acrylic, but I also love adding touches of watercolor pencil, oil pastels, and oil stick. Most of the time, I experiment on paper, see what that process brings, and then replicate or expand on that process on canvas or larger paper. If I start a painting based on a general idea, I'm open to allowing the work to breathe a life of its own and continue down its own path. Sometimes that is more exciting that executing the original plan.
Current projects
My instincts usually result in bold, colorful, and active pieces. However, recently I've been more contemplative, so the projects I'm currently working on are softer and gentler. I'm recognizing that life is too short to ignore even the smallest voices in my head and heart.
